Buccaneer Beach Club?

Buccaneer Beach Club?

Postby eagvent » Tue Dec 27, 2011 1:57 pm

My wife and I have never been to Antigua before. From my prior "newbie" post, I'm starting to narrow things down.

I'm looking for a nice place that's clean, reasonably updated and appointed, has a pool and is on a nice beach. I'm seeing good things about the BBC and would appreciate any insights. For a 1br unit with (unfortunately) only a pool view, $225US per night looks like a very fair rate. We will have a car but don't want to be too remote. Dickenson Bay seems like a good spot, as it's also not far from St. John's.

Thoughts on BCC? Any others that you'd suggest?

Thanks all.

It is right next to Coconut Grove which is a Happy Hour Hot spot, directly on the beach, modern and within a short cab ride or a car rental drive to St John's and two super markets. Antuigua Village is on the opposite side of CG and has many good units as well. You should check out both locations.

Good luck. :)

To anyone who knows both BCC and Antigua Village, how would you rate the two against each other?

To help you do that, it'll be myself and my wife. We vacation to relax and couldn't care less about casinos and nightlife. We'll have a car and plan to visit somewhere, probably St. John's or various beaches, most days. We'll cook breakfast for ourselves and most likely lunch if we're nearby - dinner will be out somewhere and not something we skimp on, though good food is much more important than being fancy. Days will be spent on a beach or by a pool, reading and whatever.

We need the unit to be clean, fairly well appointed and comfortable. Luxurious we don't need but rickety furniture, torn/stained upholstery, etc. would be a problem. The kitchen must be fully equipped, as we both cook and even lunch could be somewhat involved. A small safe in the unit would be a plus, as would a radio and ample lighting for reading at night.

Thoughts? Thanks very much.

I would Say BCC .. and thats because the facility is more modern, the staff are friendly the types of customers are normally business-like (so no late night partying) .. and it seems safer .. where as antigua village constantly has people walking through and it seems some what .. out dated..this just my humble opinion. hope that helps :)

Buccaneer is much newer, and nicely appointed. It's small, and the owners are pretty proactive and look after their guests well IMO. No noise from anything nearby, and a nice stretch of beach directly in front of the property.

AV is older, and whilst some of the units are extremely nice, some are a little tired. It's a mixture of timeshare and owned units, with a central reception service and small supermarket (which anyone can use) at the back of the car park. There's a bar/restaurant (Pepperz and Lime) right on the doorstep. There's a busy pathway directly in front of the resort, and a couple of small strips of beach. A few yards further you've got the main part of Dickenson, which is a big beach.

Of the two, I prefer BBC, but if you can get a really good deal, I wouldn't rule out Antigua Village.

I would chose BBC becasue it has an intimate resort feel to me. AV is big and lots of condo style buildings and feels like soemthing you might have at home.

I can personally recommend unit S27 at Antigua Village. We have stayed there for the last nine years and love the location as it is right on the path facing the water. The owners keep it well appointed and the staff at Antigua Village keep it clean

It is a studio and has a small stove and fridge. The patio is the best feature.

We eat breakfast every morning on the patio and like you often have lunch there as well.

You can lok at it on the AV web site and check on availability and price

Good luck
