English harbour/Nelson's dockyard

English harbour/Nelson's dockyard

Postby Travelrn » Fri Sep 30, 2011 12:53 pm

Hi All,
Okay, so what am I missing? I have been looking at places to stay and I'm finding huge ranges in price. I found Admiral's Inn and the Copper and Lumber company , both inside the national historic park. Both look absoutely gorgeous but are somewhat cheap at aprox. $125. I see many other places that don't look nearly as nice for way more. Is there something I'm not thinking of??? Anybody ever stayed at either one?
thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Hi Traverlrn

Both Admirals Inn and The Copper and Lumber Store are located within the popular and totally historic Nelson's Dockyard. These hotels are very popular for travelers looking for something totally unique. Because of the setting neither hotel has a swimming pool or beach access or other resort amenities and therefore rates are set accordingly. There's a water taxi that will take you across the bay to a beach great for snorkeling or you can walk to Pigeon Beach or any one fo the many bars and restaurants. The area is teaming with yachting activity and the two harbours (English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour) have some of the most amazing yachts on display.

I have been to both but not to stay and they are both delightful....probably more suited to a few days stay than a few weeks though as Donna states they have limitations

There is another hotel overlooking Falmouth but for the life of me I can't recall the name but I know DONNA knows it so she may pick up on this thread

Hi Juliebrown and Traverlrn

Are you thinking of Ocean Inn? That's a good economical option or how about the Catamaran Hotel.

Thanks so much for all the advice. I think we are narrowing it down. Im still thinking the harbour area suits us best. We are interested in some nightlife but being as we are fifty somehow the lure is not for all night partying. I think we will end up geting a car but we also dont want to spend the whole time driving around either.
thanks again,

Okay, we're booked for Ocean Inn. I'll let everyone know how it was so others can at least get an idea before they go.
Thanks for the advice everyone !
