Drought

As some of you know I am a weather junkie and am fascinated by weather news. Why are we having such a drought, Eli and regulars? It seems to be problem in the ABC's and Eastern Caribbean but not up by Anguilla so much and north. Meanwhile the US has had very weird weather. El Nino?

yes according to the weather people at the NHC we are in an el nino and this all has to do with that. while that is true and also it is true that we have had very dry conditions all winter, we are having some showers today in the south of antigua. :D
for me, the strangest thing is the light winds. We havent seen conditons like this that i can remember. This feb has to have had the lightest winds for a feb ever!

great for power boats but not so good for sailing of any sort.

you see than many of the boats in the Caribbean600 regatta had to retire because of such light winds.

Vancouver, British Columbia Canada just hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. Of course that means cold weather and snow. In case you didn't hear we had the warmest January in over 100 years AND we had to truck and helicopter snow to one venue from a mountain about 100 kilometers away. Our trees were in blossom a month ahead of time and so were the early spring flowers. It made a great showing for all our visitors but a nightmare for the Olympic organizers.

Weird everywhere.
