Day trip to Barbuda

Flew over for the day yesterday for my girlfriend's birthday treat. Had a wonderful day. The weather was divine. Had a great lobster lunch at Uncle Roddy's, and hit a few of Barbuda's wonderful beaches.

Flying into Barbuda, below Palmetto Point. With the now closed and run down Beach House.



Went on the water taxi across to Palm Beach and had a couple of hours there and walked up to the Lighthouse Bay Hotel.



Then back across the lagoon and took a drive up to Two Foot Bay on the Atlantic side.

Just an interesting footnote. In Codrington Lagoon is a buoy marked AM 52. There is an interesting story about how it got there and from where.



Originally it was a flashing marker on the GRANPAS BANKS, off the East coast of CANADA, where it broke free, then went on a journey of its own across the ATLANTIC OCEAN with the prevailing Gulf Stream current all the way to Spain and Portugal, then down again past the Canary Islands, back again across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean, and then was spotted and brought ashore at BARBUDA

I see that you are trying aerial photography now Mark. I haven't been to Barbuda but could it be a tad underdeveloped? It looks so isolated in those photos. That well-travelled buoy should probably have it's own facebook page.

George Jeffery was our water taxi guide across the lagoon and he told us about the buoy. (Very nice man too, may I add).
