Hi Eli, you could be correct however I am 99% sure it is AV as my mother in law wrote on the back of each photo the location and year. I will recheck that one.
Obviously we need some more input from others that were on the island back then. I know that the storm took a lot of trees down so it could look quite different in just one year.

The island on the left isn't sisters island. It's the one just off Mill Reef as seen from the Half Moon Bay Hotel. Also, you notice that the water is choppy yet clear like half moon is on a moderately calm day. Dickenson Bay always got a bit murky when it was rough. There is more that shows this one isn't dickenson, but I bet you will find that they visited 1/2 moon a few times and took this pic.

It is very possible and you certainly would know the waters and landmarks far better than I ever will.

Does anyone know when was the St John's market building built?

Dave The market is discussed by Schaww in 1774"Journal Of a Lady Of Quality",Her book was published in 1921 {New Haven}.I am sure the market is on the same site! This book is a wonderful "time capsule" of Antigua and travel to and fro circa 1774-1776{descendants published her manuscript}there are two one being in The British Museum. This book also documents pre civil war {the southern U.S.}I cannot thank you enough for the photos my early snaps perished in 2002
I remember the market building receiving a massive overhall in the mid {19} 70"s.Is the school for the blind as yet near the market?I used to purchase beautiful basketwork there.Your photos are such a tonic;kind regards Bunny :D

Bunny, Glad you enjoyed the photos. Regarding the St. John's Market I was curious as to when the current building that is now the market's home was built. It is quite impressive the changes we have seen since our first trip in 87. We are really going to miss the Stickey Wicket; we would check in for our flight home and go ovet there for a good lunch.

Hopefully someone will find a way to re-open it.
